DMS Digital Fibre Optic Displacement Sensor
Specification

The DMS fibre optic displacement sensors are family of very high performance non contact displacement sensors. They have an internal microprocessor that provides direct output of distance and reflectance via RS-232 interface. With resolutions down to 20 nm and measuring ranges from 20 µm to 10 mm and a 5 KHz frequency capability. Equipped with a built in LCD display showing distance and reflectivity these rugged sensors are very easy to use.

The DMS range of sensors are available in either the D Type or RC Type.

Features/Benefits

  1. Built in display & keypad for local operation showing both reflectance and distance.
  2. RS-232 interface for sending measured values direct to PC or other device.
  3. Data streams up to 5000 samples per second (data burst captutes 512 data points at rates up to 20 KHz).
  4. Available in both D type or RC type configuration.
  5. Fibre optic principle means complete insensitivity to magnetic fields and high voltage electrical fields can be used where inductance or capacitance sensors do not work.
  6. Rugged construction, can be used in all types of difficult environments such as vacuum, high pressure, cryogenic temperatures, high temperature, in fluids or explosive atmospheres.
Applications

  1. Rotor Runout
  2. Thermal Growth
  3. Distance of Glass
  4. Displacement in Fluids
  5. Actuator Stroke
  6. Diaphragm Deflection
  7. Read/Write Head Tracking
  8. Solenoid Travel
  9. Measurement in Vacuums in Cryogenic Temperatures
