Specification

CALIX series sensors allow for thickness measurement from one single sensor housing. They can be used instead of applications consisting of displacement sensors and measuring frames without the need for temperature control and frequent recalibration. This is due to the fact that the alignment of the measuring beams is optimised during production and then then sensors are sealed within the housing. One of the main advantages of this, is that complicated alignment procedures are not required after the sensor has been commissioned and errors related to alignment can't occur.

CALIX sensors can easily be integrated into production lines. They reach over the objects to be measured from the side, without the need for O-frames or bridges. They are available with different measuring ranges and limb lengths. The limb length limits the distance of the measuring spot from the objects edge.

CALIX series sensors provide extremely precise results on virtually all materials, independent of limb length and measuring range. They automatically adapt to changing colors and surfaces. Even measurements on shiny aluminium, non-vulcanized black rubber, and soft or sticky materials are possible.

Features/Benefits

  1. Diode laser with output wavelength of 670 nm (Red).
  2. The maximum rate at which the gauge can collect measurements is 4 kHz.
  3. The gauge has the capability to output data over RS485 or Ethernet and multiple gauges can be connected together and data fed to a PC (via UDP Ethernet). See the image opposite or download the brochure to view all connection possibilities.
  4. CALIX sensors use high resolution CCD or CMOS line scan cameras. This provides a digital output which can be transmitted more reliably in a noisy industrial environment.
Applications

There are a variety of applications that the CALIX gauge can be used in. Below are three options and opposite are the corresponding images for each application.

  1. For two track thickness measurement, two sensors are placed on opposite sides of the measured object. This application may detect cross variation of thickness.
  2. Grouping sensors along the axis of product travel provides the possibility for multi-track measurements. Depending on the product width, sensors with longer limbs may be able to measure the middle of the product.
  3. To get profile data, the CALIX sensor may be moved in and out or along the products edge.
Options

  1. Several measuring tracks per gauge housing.
  2. Air purging within gauge housing to keep sensors clean.
  3. Individual limb lengths.
