The Accura S2 is a CCD displacement sensor.  It operates using the principle of laser triangulation.  To make the installation of the sensor easy, a 3-point bracket is part of the standard supply.  The resolution in height measurement is as low as 0.1 mm and the stand off from the sensor head to the beginning of the measuring range is 300 mm.  The measuring range is very large at 2m.

1. Installation is made easy with the 3-point mounting bracket.
2. The communications methods to the sensor include a standard digital interface RS-232 and an analogue output.
3. The maximum sampling rate is 2kHz.
4. A minimum spot size of 2 mm is possible with this sensor.
5. Very long measuring range makes the sensor applicable for a wide number of applications.
6. The resolution is 0.1 mm.

There are numerous industrial applications that are applicable for this sensor and a few are listed below:

1. Measuring the lengths of planks travelling on a cross conveyor.
2. Measuring the flatness or shape of steel strip.
3. Monitoring the coil diameter build up.
4. Measuring the width and thickness of moving objects.
5.  Measurement of loop height for machine speed synchronisation.
6. Capturing the profile of an object as it traverses past on a conveyor.
